Bio

Amanda Lee Jones
Austin, TX

Amanda Lee Jones was born in Alvin, Texas and spent her early years living in various places, finally settling in Austin in 1998.
Amanda always loved to draw but didn’t pursue art seriously until she started classes in her late twenties with Mary Watkins at Three Muses School of Fine Arts, eventually teaching the children’s classes there. When Mary’s studio closed Amanda began teaching from her home studio.
Seeking to improve her technique further, she began a period of independent learning that eventually lead to her discovery of Graydon Parrish. Amanda began studying privately with Graydon early in 2011, but in late in 2011 she was diagnosed with stage 3 uterine cancer and she had to quit her training.
After beating cancer Amanda began painting again, using this experience as a creative springboard. In the fall of 2018 Amanda opened a new, larger studio where she continues to share her passion and knowledge with budding young artists.
